Enjoy the breeze of the ocean and the concert of the forest for a night in this true paradise. And while you’re here, you wouldn’t want to miss the one day tour into Corcovado National Park to discover the intense wildlife that all this area contains.

All about the Beach Trek.

With this option, you'll have the opportunity to explore Corcovado National Park's southeast area, Carate and La Leona Ranger Station.

First Day: After a short 3.5 Km hike from Carate, you’ll arrive at La Leona Eco Lodge. This is a wonderful tent-cabin accommodation right in front of the beach, next door to Corcovado National Park's main entrance.

That evening you'll have the opportunity to do a night tour (not included in the price), either in the forest or on the beach, looking for marine turtles (when in season from June to December) and other nocturnal wildlife.

Second day: You’ll do a guided day tour into Corcovado National Park, La Leona sector. This is a low difficulty path in which you walk about 6 to 8 km. On this trail it's possible to see 4 species of monkeys, scarlet macaws, toucans, anteaters, poison dart frogs and many other animals. Also, on this trail, it’s fairly frequent to observe the second biggest feline in our country, the puma.

Things to bring: Minimum 1-2 liters of water per person, sunscreen, insect repellent, hiking shoes (protected, comfortable and preferably waterproof), sandals, light and quick dry clothes, hat or cap, handkerchief, swimsuit, snacks, camera, binoculars (optional) and sunglasses (optional)

  1. Day 1 Half day at La Leona Ecolodge

    1:30 p.m. Transportation from Puerto Jimenez to Carate (not included).
    3:30 p.m. Arrival at Carate. Walk from Carate to La Leona Eco Lodge (you hike by yourself, please take the trail).
    4:30 p.m. Arrival at La Leona Eco Lodge and settling in.
    4:30-6:30 p.m. Free time at the lodge.
    6:30-7:00 p.m. Dinner (included).
    7:15 p.m. Night hike (optional, not included).
    9:00 p.m. Bedtime.

  2. Day 2 Corcovado One Day Tour

    7:00 a.m. Breakfast (included).
    8:00 a.m. Start the day tour.
    8:15 a.m. Register at La Leona Ranger Station. Hike the Madrigal Trail.
    9:30 a.m. Arrival at the Madrigal River. Hike the Paradise Trail.
    10:30 a.m. Arrival at La Hedionda Creek. Hike the Barco Trail.
    11:00 a.m. Hike back to La Leona Lodge.
    12:30-1:00 p.m. Arrival at the lodge. Just in time for lunch (included).
    End of the tour.
    2:00-3:00 p.m. Hike back to Carate
    4:00 p.m. Transportation from Carate to Puerto Jimenez. (not included).

La Leona Eco Lodge

La Leona Eco Lodge provides tent-cabins designed for a unique glamping experience. The accommodations are surrounded by magical, scenic views, where  guests can wake up to fresh ocean breezes, hear the music of the Costa Rican rainforest, and experience the most amazing sunsets in the country.

All cabins include double or single beds, a small table, two chairs in on a wooden deck and a shared bathroom.
